From the accounts and descriptions I read it sounded similar to language laws in Quebec. I can't imagine anglophones or allophones in Quebec starting to murder people over those kinds of laws, never mind a full-scale invasion by English Canada. Does anyone have sources showing language laws were worse in Ukraine than in Quebec pre-2014 or even later? Or perhaps more relevant, were they worse than in Soviet times?
