I wonder if to counter the loss of the 4 oblasts in any peace negotiation if Ukraine got EU and NATO fast track membership if the majority of Ukrainians would go for it to end the war. Tough pill to swallow but I think maybe they would. On the other hand Russians would only agree if they thought they couldn't win militarily at all. So I think the west would have to threaten direct intervention to get Russia to accept and I can't see that happening. It seems like the war will drag on for a while yet.
