I'm not even sure Mearsheimer understands the term imperialism. If a country that hasn't been attacked feels it can impose itself on its smaller neighbors including with violence how is this anything but imperialism? And he thinks negotiations should be between Russia and the USA? Why? Because those are the relevant imperial powers. He is 100% an imperialist, not sure how he can be taken seriously.
