Putin and Russia invaded its neighbor Ukraine because American presidents weren't chummy with Putin? Umm, no. Russia wants to dominate more territory and they are willing to use violence. Russia could simply have done nothing. The world let Russian Oligarchs gallivant around like legitimate businessmen, held large world events like the World Cup in Russia, looked the other way as Russia crushed Chechnya, looked the other way while Russia seized territory like Crimea, build whole infrastructures to facilitate trade with Russia, the list goes on and on. What did Russia do? Very little. Seems like the West was doing much more than Russia to have good relations.
