This comment makes much more sense than the article. A man or a woman might be open to serious committment but they need to get to know someone over some time before they commit all their time and energy for 20-50+ years to that person. By demanding things early you make yourself seem less attractive to a long term committment not more. I think showing how awesome you are for a while makes more sense. Then if it is not reciprocated just break it off. No one owes you committment on your timeline, man or woman.
