This isn't quite as valuable as people seem to think. Yes bitcoin may be 'scarce' but so what? There are tons of cryptocurrencies out there and new ones can come at anytime. As long as bitcoin is perceived to be better than other currencies then the scarcity will drive up the price. If people want a different currency then 21 million bitcoins won't be scarce they will be abundant, cheap, and almost useless.
